Espresso testing,How to run Espresso test

I studied about Espresso testing first time,In this the UI of the App is tested .Is this testing done in android studio or needs other framework. The Espresso Testing code is coded in app/src/androidTest/javafolder and this is the location you will write the code for testing. Even i understand about this but i'm unable to understand how to start the Espresso Testing Recorder and how i check the result of the testing.
