In my application I have a field to enter unique code. How can I use cucumber to generate random numbers?

In my application I have scenarios where I have to generate random numbers to enter into a field called "CODE". Am using page object model for automating the application with Cucumber. How can I use cucumber to generate random code? I have just started using cucumber. So please advise me. Reference links will also be appreciated.
