Testing a custom network protocol

I have been developing some software that utilize a custom UDP protocol between multiple machines within a LAN. I would now like to perform some automated black box level testing using wireshark to record all the network data through the network. I'm looking for an automated way to analysis the resultant recordings against my protocol to ensure that it performed as expected.

After a detailed search around I have come up empty handed for something that fits the bill.I though I would ask on here if anyone has tackled a similar issue before I starting writing a lot of software.
