API Testing tool for WPF application

I have been doing UI Automation testing for quite sometime now using TestComplete. But now I have been asked to set up API testing for our application. I have never been into API testing and don't have enough idea as to what tool is required for this and how to set it up. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
