Gradle - redirecting output of test execution to a file

While using testNG() in a test task I've noticed that it doesn't follow what's set in the testLogging config. Since I'm executing many verbose tests with testNG I would like to have it redirect the stdout and stderr to a file so it doesn't show in the console. Is there a way I can achieve this?
