is it possible to write a end-2-end system test with xcuitest? how?

I am setting up new automation framework for testing a iOS mobile app, I want to write just a few very high level end-2-end tests. I am using XCUItest. I know the UI test part but don't know how I can verify the http calls within the same test. Is this even possible?
