Can I create one test case for the same field which located in other components?

Assume you have 3 forms, in each form there is only one field that is the same. Can I create one generic test case for that specific field for all the components together? (although there is no other fields that are the same and the steps to access the forms is different) Or, should I create 1 shared step for the specific field and use it in each test case for a specific form - one per component? (3 test cases in total)
