Is there any way where I can test the 'Read Timeout' in LDAP?

I have the Ldap server which is running on port(2889) and host(localhost). I am using JNDI.I want to test the read timeout which is configure in my code. In order to test the read timeout, I need to slow down the response of my server manually..? Are there any other ways..?
