Is there a way to test my code which is a configuration file of executable file?

I am using executable file which takes path of the post processor configuration script and path of the intermediate NC data file. Configuration script (".cps") is written in JS language ("ES5").

Looking for a way to test this configuration script. I prefer to use Node for it, but at this point I don't even know if it's achievable.

So is it possible to call tests on executable file?
