Problems understanding testing for Python

Someone can explain me or gives me a link of a Guide to recognice the common paterns to create unit testing in a project based in APIs, our project is based in Python, we have a lot of APIs and unit testing that have this project consist send a request to the API and only await a response HTTP200 without any comprobation I dont know if that is correct.

If you have a guide to understand the different testings that a developper has to create that will be an awesome help.
