What software do people use to capture the connectivity between resources/components in the different dev/test/uat.. environments?
There are roughly 2 requirements I'm hoping to fulfill:
- storing the connection properties for each resources. i.e. For an instance of a MQ Queue for dev-1 environment: the host, channel, port, queue name etc.
- Displaying & diagramming the which resources are used by which environment and who's using them. i.e. system-A(uat-1) is writing to queue-2 and system-B(uat-1) is reading from the queue. To also have another diagram where it shows the same connection topology as for the first environment but shows what queue uat-2 is using for example.
I've been trying to find a program that does just one of these and all I've found so far is generic diagramming tools or software for managing industrial/commercial systems (not software systems). It's possible the search terms I've been using have been wrong, or it could just be hard to find.
So what do you use in your company (if at all)?
