Would explicitly setting the seleniumProtocol to "WebDriver" help in increasing the number of WebDriver instances available at a node?

I'm using Selenium Grid 2 and have 2 nodes setup each with 7 maxInstances and 7 maxSessions, I have not specified the seleniumProtocol during configuration. I'm trying to find out the maximum number of firefox webdriver instances that can be supported. Currently the grid console shows 7 Selenium Remote Control selenium instances available and 7 webdriver instances available. Would specifying the seleniumProtocol to "WebDriver" give me the capacity to use more webdriver instances? What is the best configuration to maximize resource utilization for just selenium firefox webdriver instances?
