How to Inject fault in kernel space (linux kernel) of Virtual machine?

I would like to inject a fault into kernel space, OS of Virtual machine. To simulate a result of it. (as my thought the OS will be crash after injection)

I have tried to inject faults in while running sorting algorithm on data and pointer register before that caused segmentation fault and data corruption with KULFI tool link>>(http://ift.tt/1dzIywX)

Are there any ways to start ?

I'm new of linux-kernel. If anything can you guys suggest me that would be great. Thank you.
