Using Mocha with Meteor

I am new to Meteor testing. I am trying to use the Velocity framework + Mocha for testing my meteor app. I've installed everything and can see how the sample tests run. However, the app fails to connect to the database for some reason because of the Mocha tests. Why would this be happening?

Is there any database .connect command I am supposed to add in my mocha test.js files?
