invoke get programmatically express router for testing purposes

I am definitely not the first one asking this, so please forgive me, if there are already answers for this problem. I haven't found them.

Here's my problem: For testing purposes, I'd like to invoke a get method directly against my express router – without having to start the server.

Is it possible at all and if so, how can it be accomplished?
