Various code related tests that can be performed in python

Whilst Python being an extensive programming language which I have gained a lot of interest in the recent past, There are few questions which run through my mind.

1. what are the various kinds of tests that we can run through on the code ( e.g: styling errors/ coding errors/ nose test ) which is accepted widely to keep up to industry standards?

2. Is there any way or possibility to automate these tests/ any direct packages which can be reused than developing one single suite of all checks?
