How do we Test for the existence OS level Notifications by using Native Java Libraries?

We've been working on a Desktop App for MacOS and Windows. This has been primarily written over Electron. We've been Automating the App using Framework written over WebDriver, which has been working fine. We are however required to Automate the native OS Notifications which would be generated by the Application. Since, this would be native OS elements, WebDriver would not be able to recognise the same. The options we've are AutoIT and Sikuli, but our past experience say that these do not work reliably, since these are more based on Image Recognition. Is there any Java Library or in other languages which could be used to achieve the same.
