Spring Unit Test Cross-Module Resource Access?

I'm trying to get a better perspective on a testing issue with regards to accessing applicationConfiguration.xml in other modules.

I've worked with multi-module spring/java tests before, and I'm really at a loss for a good explanation for this problem: (screen capture of my workspace) my test code:

package tests;

import org.junit.Test;
import org.junit.runner.RunWith;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Autowired;
import org.springframework.beans.factory.annotation.Qualifier;
import org.springframework.test.context.ContextConfiguration;
import org.springframework.test.context.junit4.SpringJUnit4ClassRunner;

@RunWith(SpringJUnit4ClassRunner.class)
@ContextConfiguration("classpath*:/config.xml")
public class ConfigMainResourceTest {

    @Autowired
    @Qualifier("bar")
    Object o;

    @Test
    public void bar(){
        System.out.println(o);
    }
}

config.xml (from a module separate from the test classes module):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<beans xmlns:xsi="http://ift.tt/ra1lAU"
    xmlns="http://ift.tt/GArMu6"
    xsi:schemaLocation="
    http://ift.tt/GArMu6
    http://ift.tt/1jdM0fG
">
    <bean id="bar" class="java.lang.Object" />
</beans>

For some strange reason, the config.xml is found, loaded, parsed, but the following error occurs:

org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'tests.ConfigMainResourceTest': Injection of autowired dependencies failed; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Could not autowire field: java.lang.Object tests.ConfigMainResourceTest.o; nested exception is org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No qualifying bean of type [java.lang.Object] found for dependency: expected at least 1 bean which qualifies as autowire candidate for this dependency. I have tried 4 tests with identical configuration files, each configuration in different locations.

The tests are finding the xml configurations, parsing them, but strangely, unable to create a bean of type java.lang.Object with the id of "bar", ONLY when the xml is located in another module.

Thank you for your responses.
