Mutation testing or alternatives

I'm trying to find a way to test the effictiveness of my unit tests. The only method I know of this is mutation testing. The only problem is that I'm using C# and Visual Studio 2015 and from what I've gathered, there are no mutation testing utilities that are compatible with 2015. So, if anyone knows of any such utility, please let me know. My actual question is, what are other ways, besides mutation testing, to ensure my unit tests are doing their job?
