How come protractor doesn't provide recording capabilities?

I have been working with protractor for a few weeks now and truly enjoying picking up the pace and my learning experience.

My question though is how come protractor does not provide QTP/UFT like recording capabilities, where the users could simply "record" desired tests and script would be handily put in place for them... Then, the users would just make the necessary adjustments to the code (add desired conditions, insert checkpoints, time delays, etc).

I would imagine, this way protractor will be used by a lot more QA folks that don't posses java script expertise, as well as some product guys...

So, why not introduce the "play button"?
