which api testing framework with python

I just moved from writing test code from Java to Python.

I've been looking at picking an api testing tool/framework (i used rest assured) but don't see one that stands out as the main used by the community.

I've heard good things about nose and pytest but they don't look api oriented, more like unit testing.

Any hints?
