Java cucumber on jenkins is taking more than 5 minutes PER feature

Each feature has only 1-5 scenarios. I've searched everywhere and not one person has any test timings that even come close. Locally it runs slightly faster, around 40s per feature, which is already slow by many people's standards. It is a multi-module maven project but I'm not sure what other information I could provide that can help explain it. I'm sure it is not the starting up of the test, because the waiting times are actually in between each feature.
