Debugging (diagnostic) of graphics pipeline for compiled program

Sorry for noob question, but is there the way how to debug (or more correctly - diagnostics) a compiled program for works with videocard and graphics pipeline: how much video memory is spent for current program, size of buffers (VBO,IBO,FBO), GPU's load for current program, and etc.? I have GPU Caps Viewer, but I think there is more detailed program.
