How to locate files present on local system using BDD(Selenium+ Ruby+Cucumber)

I have a scenario wherein I need to locate file present in my system, then open the file and do editing and save it. This saved file is then is to be copied and moved to server. All this process should be dynamic and need to write script in selenium webdriver using ruby + cucumber.
