how to find an applet components are loaded completely in java

I have to perform some actions in various components(predefined list prepared already) in an applet. I am blindly performing actions on the component,without checking whether is was loaded or not in my automated testing, which is failing sometimes.Is there any way to check components loaded completely so that i will wait upto all components loaded.
