From a QA testing career to SQL Developer Careear

I have 0 experience in IT and i have been teaching my self T-SQL,SSIS,&, SSRS. I want to work as SQL Server Developer and some people tell me to get into the industry quickly, starting off as QA tester is a good way. This companies will train me for free for 1 month(full time) and they place me to QA testing job, I will sign an agreement with them to take a portion of my salary for 6 month. Do you think this is a good gateway to eventually become a Developer? Thank You
