Are there alternatives to HttpUnit and Servlet Unit? I see their last release was in 2008

I see the last release of httpunit was in 2008 which concerns me. Are there any well known open source alternatives to HttpUnit and ServletUnit that we should consider instead these days instead?

My goal is to write integration tests that test web service responses without having code up and running on an app server.
