How do I force my Tomcat server to timeout during connection

I'm testing my Tomcat configurations. The server is running remotely.

Since I'm kinda new to it, I got myself stuck into a simple task:

Forcing a time out during the connection (to assure everything is going as it should). I already changed the var connectionTimeout inside the tomcat/conf/server.xml file
