Machine Learning Quality Assurance Testing [on hold]

I am a Software Quality assurance engineer. My developing team is trying the concept of Machine Learning and i have been told to test it. Please could someone tell me what software quality assurance engineer has to do with the concept of Machine Learning. "Is it same as doing Manual/ Automation testing of an application using tools???. As on I have seen lots of videos of machine learning where they have specified algorithms and metrics to be used for testing as shown in the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDW44NPhNw0, I am having doubt is the video correct or is their some other open source tools that I could use to test an machine learning application.
