Can someone tellme if i am right in my understanding of API and Webservices?

I have a doubt of my understanding of AP and Webservices? 1.I am searching for data using google search engine and i get data returned.Here,am i using Google webservices? 2.Am i also using Google search engine API?if not, then what are the examples where we can use both API and Webservices at once?
