Saving User Acceptance test results for a portfolio of projects

We run User Acceptance tests for about 70+ projects in our portfolio. We currently create test cases in JIRA through the JIRA Xray plugin (issue Type: Test Case). These test cases shadow the user stories.

When we execute each test case, we have a Test NG life cycle hook that makes a call to the JIRA API to the execution result. This is to give us a view of the test executions (pass/fail) across multiple projects and also the progression over time. But this is overwhelming the JIRA api. We could change the workflow to make just one call at the end of all executions in a project and then upload the results through one or more calls. Or, we could instead store the execution results in a database and then graph them.

Sometimes organizations to tend to follow a strategy because the current generation has inherited it. The business finds values in looking at these numbers and see that they are improving steadily. But is this a industry wide practice? Is there a value in doing this?
