Is it possible to create an end 2 end test with server and android emulator

I would like to create an end 2 end test as a part of my CI to check a complete path from server to my android emulation

which means, starting my server, starting my android emulator, create some flow on the server, wait for notification on emulator, check if notification is what i was expecting (fail/pass) the test.

What i don't understand is how to control the emulator remotely... is there any way of gathering information from the emulator that way?
