UI Automation of Silverlight web-app

I'm trying to move from manual to automation testing of the Silverlight application I'm working with. I have experience automating using Selenium WebDriver but I have never done it with Silverlight based apps, my issue is how am I supposed to automate tests when not able to inspect the elements on the web page. I would prefer to avoid a simple "mouse recording" stuff. I've done some research on the subject but most of the stuff seems to be a bit outdated. Anyone please suggest on how to tackle this problem?
