How to check if the clear key button works while automation in java and selenium

I want to check if the clear button of a form works for automation. How will I check them for each field in the form? For example: if the clear button is clicked all the textboxes and drop-down should be set to default values. How can I check it ? Please help as I am new to programming and automation testing.
