Carrier change from manual tester to SDET

I am about to change my carrier and I need advice. Any useful and good intended advice is welcome.

I have 5+ years of experience in manual testing. I am able to work on my own, and during my carrier, I had the change to lead a team, and get involved in various planning.

I would like to switch to automated testing and eventually SDET at some point.

Besides the obvious (study and practice), what would be the best way to find an entry job for such a position?

The current job interviews I have been on for such a position are more developer alike than what I expect.
