I want to login into web application in Jmeter. I tried but i am not getting home page, it is displaying login page

I am new to jmeter testing. I want to authenticate into application through jmeter. One more doubt can we open response in browser.

I have created testPlan, ThreadGroup, HttpRequest(In this i provided ip, port, path, parameters i.e:cookies),Http Authentication Manager, View Results Tree. In response body output is login page, not authenticated. Please give some idea where i am going wrong.
