In Webdriver sampler of jmeter, using javascript how do you use wait until you find an element?

How do you wait for an element and find it using the webdriver sampler of jmeter? I already tried sleep but I find it its behavior unpredictable also the test results is not that quite robust. Please help heheh noob here. :-)
