Quality Engineering ( aka QA) best practices

I have a question as to what are the best practices out there for managing quality test cases and integrating them in the scrum process. For the longest time QA I have worked with over the users, have used from excel sheets to smartsheet and a collection of tools for automation. But are there general practices to manage both manual and automation test tools out there? I am had with Katalon before but wanted to ask people here what they use.
