Should testing be done on a physical iPhone or can it be done simulator only?

I'm looking at moving to an Android phone for my day-to-day use and currently have an iPhone X as my main phone.

I understand from my past experience that Android simulators do not work well with features such as sound (I found simulating sound does not work). As for this, I got a cheap device for development purposes only.

From my use of the iOS simulator, I have found it is able to simulate all the things I need to. Even shaking the device etc.

I am thinking of replacing my iPhone with an Android, meaning I will not have a physical iPhone to test with. Before I replace my phone, I wan't to know if:

  • Can The iOS simulator simulate everything you need for production? (Except for tapping screen etc.)
  • If it can't could it possibly cause app-breaking code (crashing etc.)
  • Could I get away with having a physical iPhone to test if I have beta testers? I would still be able to test out the UI using my Android device

All apps I will be testing will be cross-platform if that helps.
