Can we do test automation for batch jobs?

I am doing a POC for designing a test automation framework using java, cucumber jdk and oracle to automate batch jobs. Is there a way to achieve this. Basically there are different batch jobs running in Tidal or Autosys. I am looking test automating this in testing environment to check the batch job is running or not. If it runs then validate files dumped in network drive and respective tables with the test data. Also, I am not sure how do we feed initial data to the batch job. The batch file is .bat file which java calls backend store proc.
